I probably have the worst taste in movies so this may be tricky. The Exorcist scares the shit out of me, but most movies pre, say 1990, do nothing for me. Anything modern that you guys recommend that would be more of a recent release?

House of the Devil is one of my favorite movies of the past decade. The Descent is another great one. Don't watch any trailers for either movie as they give too much away.
I generally prefer older horror movies, though. There's whole thread on horror movies that was basically myself and three other guys who don't post here (much) anymore. That had a good number of newer movies.

I have no idea why but Insidious creeped me out. Possessed child etc....typical movie....and i really dont get scared often. I love horror/scary movies just for the ridiculousness of most but for some reason this one really creeped me out.

The first half of The Descent was awesome.
i recommend The Tunnel...yep, it's been done before but i stilled enjoyed it.
Rec, The Orphanage were good. Trick 'r Treat might be one of the better horror movies i have recently seen though. really didn't expect it enjoy it like i did.

I really like that movie.
I ended up doing The Descent last night. Whoever posted that they really liked the first half of that movie I agree with. Monsters jumping out got really boring, but I'm still glad I watched the movie.

Horror/Comedy is an abomination.
How can anyone not enjoy movies pre-1990? Especially horror movies, geez.
I'm get distracted with how dated things look and it really takes me out of the movie (this applies to really any genre... I wish I could learn to get over it). I'm totally cool with a shit modern scary flick that will give me a couple of scares. I just don't want it to be laughably bad.
