The context for me suddenly discovering this music, 19+ years after the fact is two-fold:
1. I was just listening to a '92 On The Edge radio broadcast from Westwood One found on the Pre2k Pearl Jam soundboard collection. After a commercial break, a feature on Neneh Cherry began, including these songs and more. I am sort of getting blown away here. It's really good music, and honestly a lot better than Pearl Jam in '92. She's a much better interview, too.
2. I was nine years old in 1992, so cut me some slack. This of course doesn't excuse me. There were plenty of bands outside of my immediate experience in the early 90s that I eventually came to. Most of that other music has been hyped in some way to me, though. I've never even heard of Neneh Cherry's name until today. This may or may not be an embarrassing fact. I have no idea how popular this artist is or isn't.

In 6th grade a girl gave me a tape of "Raw Like Sushi" when I told her that I liked "Buffalo Stance". I liked it a lot, still remember some of the songs, but I haven't heard anything she's done since then.

Perhaps you can find her on facebook, and if my facebook friends are any indication she is probably either a teacher, or way into god. Or both.
