This, from the Pit
Check out this pre-Ten-release of Alive / Wash demo cassette recorded on January 29, 1991 which was up for auction on the bay. I hesitate to even post a link below, but since the auction was taken down early I figured it is okay per the posting guidelines. BTW I am not the seller but I emailed him/her for more information and found that s/he recently found it at a flea market for $10. The auction was later ended early by the seller after doing a little more research (and finding the second link provided below) stating that s/he simply wanted to hang onto this "I may sell it in the future, but for now I'm holding on to this prime piece of memorabilia!". I can't say that I blame him/her.

I bought one of these in the mid-90's. It ain't a demo. It's three tracks and was sent to Soundgarden and Mother Love Bone fan club members before Ten was done. There's a CD, too. I have both, I think.

Correct. It's an official promotional release from Epic. There were probably thousands made.

I like the early mix of Alive much better than how it ended up on Ten; same basic recording, rawer mix and different guitar solo.
i'd be curious to hear that. the guitar solo that we all know is one of McCready's best imho.
if it is what I am thinking it is much closer to the way he usually plays the solo live. A little slower and chunkier and more in line with the live 'yeahs'. Not nearly as good, in my opinion
