Boring setlists, flat singer, zero stage presence, shitty sound or just all-around sloppy performances... what's the worst live band you've ever seen and why?

Goo Goo Dolls, for all the reasons mentioned in the OP. Terrible stage presence. Assholes. Flat singer. Assholes. Terrible sound. Assholes. Boring setlist. Assholes. Sloppy. Assholes.

First and only concert I left early by choice.

Really? I saw them three years ago and it was a pretty good show.

I saw Collective Soul a decade ago, and they basically just played their hits. It was lame.

I also saw Death Cab with Frightened Rabbit a couple months ago, and that show bored the piss out of me.

To be honest, Bob Dylan. I love Bob Dylan, but the time I saw him he was awful. Willie Nelson was 10x better opening for him.

I will second this. I saw him during his tour in 2008 and it was pretty bad. Boring show, bad sound, lame band, all the songs sounded the same.

the smashing pumpkins in 1996. I almost left early.

I've seen REM 4-5 times and loved every show, but i'm also a huge fan. On the other hand I was a really big pumpkins fan when I saw them--not REM big, but still...

I saw Dylan in 2004 with a group of friends. At the end of the show one of them said, "yeah, it was cool, but I really wish he would have played 'All Along The Watchtower.'"

To which my other friend and I replied, "Dude, he closed with it!"

So, yeah, I guess you could say some of us also thought it was underwhelming and same sounding.

The Lemonheads in 2007.

Dando turned up late, seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else, the band were sloppy and the sound was average. Mercifully in some respects, Dando cut the show off early and walked off.

Yeah, definitely. Most post-millennial live Dylan is really dull, especially since he hired his current band in 2005 or so.

I saw a lot of bands back in the day that I wouldn't listen to now, but I probably can't reasonably count those, insofar as I enjoyed them at the time

Had the misfortune of seeing The Vines at a festival. Insufferable.

I'll never see Dylan live again. For same reasons above. But I wont fault him, he has seen his better days. If I could see one concert in history it would be Royal Albert Hall 1966.
