Every month or so, my grandmother needs a ride back to her house from the medical center, which is in a small town about an hour SW of here. On each of these trips, we bond over a nice dinner at a restaurant in the town before we say goodbye. Tonight's restaurant was a place called RG's American Grill, which as far as I can tell, used to be a Dairy Queen. The menu advertised their Chicken Fried Steak as being 8 ounces, so I figured I'd order it since I was craving some country cooking but wasn't that hungry.
This is what I got:

I've never made it. I've never made anything batter related, though. Tell me more about cube steak.
it's usually a top round cut from the butt of the cow...cheap cut of meat that needs to be pounded hard with a mallet..you should buy some and give it a try...just soak it in flour and eggs with salt and pepper and fry it up in an inch of oil in the pan..this will exceed 5 pages

Chicken fried steak is probably one of the few things that I could cook that my girlfriend would actually enjoy eating. She's quite picky, but everyone loves this dish.

Not exaggerating here. If there is any confusion about what is or isn't appropriate dinner conversation once you've been seated at a restaurant, the inclusion or lack of chicken fried steak on the menu tells you all you need to know. It's also one of the few menu items I'd ever order with a drink that's not water.

Unfortunately, chud disagrees.
Chicken fried steak is one of those meals for me that is a nice surprise. As in "I always forget how good this is, I should order it more often" type thing. Spinach or Collard greens go nicely with this. So do black eyed peas.

I read Chud's post as indicating that he didn't "get" collard greens, not CFS. I hope that's what he meant, anyway.
I might hang out in this thread until he clears it up for us, Reid.
Until then, we can offer up evidence to support either claim. I'm inclined to think it was collared greens because hasn't he said something about them before?
