OK, I'm trying to make a compilation of non-album songs for a single 12-14 song "CD". Anything goes but for live recordings I prefer soundboard quality. Include the holiday singles and B-sides (but nothing from Lost Dogs). The idea is to make something cool for my wife (who is a huge fan). Here's where I'm at - it's a bit long and I'm missing a ton of good stuff probably so already thinking it could be a 2CD mix.
Falling Down Of The Earth I've Got A Feeling Crown Of Thorns (Vegas 2000) Leatherman Ole Santa Cruz Love Reign O'er Me Slow Lukin (NYC 2010) Mother (from Fallon) Crazy Mary Hold On (Acoustic) No Jeremy Corduroy (Alt. Take) Puzzles & Games [I REALLY wish this was a louder recording] Hunger Strike (live somewhere)

I'd lose "Mother" and replace it with "Brother" for the Ten reissue or "Happy When I'm Crying" or basically anything besides that Mother cover.

Sonic Reducer ('92 Xmas Single) Last Soldier (2001 Xmas Single) Just A Girl w/ original vocals (from same promo as Puzzles) <- underrated & much better than Hold On IMO
Best "Hunger Strike" is 10/6/09 Universal City
And if you're including b-sides then there are the b-side versions of:
Wash (alternate take) Hard To Imagine (alternate take) Alone (alternate take) State Of Love And Trust (original mix) Footsteps (no harmonica)
If you need help putting this together, let me know. I have all of this shit & I can fix the tracks that are too quiet too.

there is an additional take of hold on besides the LD and acoustic version that, if you like the original song at all, is good

Anyway, I actually have one of these, and it looks like:
1. Wash (Alive single) 2. Angel 3. Alone (Go single) 4. Footsteps (Jeremy single) 5. Sunburn 6. Out of My Mind 7. Happy When I'm Crying 8. Soldier of Love (Last Kiss single) 9. Drifting (original 1999 single) 10. Education (alternate version from Lost Dogs promo) 11. U (Wishlist single) 12. Man of the Hour (demo) 13. Someday At Christmas 14. Speed of Sound (demo)
I actually have a few of these, but this is the one that gets played all the time.

The Ten Redux version of Brother makes me cry. I'd definitely go with either the rough mixes bootleg version or the version that was on the Lost Dogs promo CD.

if you don't mind subtle changes the versions of undone and Black, Red, Yellow on LD is slightly different than the versions that appear on the actual singles.
There is another version of Dead Man out there too

Thanks guys... I've got the list up to 26 songs (two 13 song "CDs"). I'm trying to sequence them now in a way that makes sense (studio v. live? - I don't know). There are a lot of great songs out there. I could probably do a third CD of alternate takes and random instrumental stuff too.

I was about to post something positive about you spenno, for your possible inclusion of "The Real Thing". Then I read this. I'm so disappointed.
