Haven't read the books but the film looks promising.

I read hunger games and although the story is not all that orginal in nature it did a good job of making it compelling.

I think this could be a fun movie.

I read the first book. They are making four movies out of three books. Has the promise to be a good movie. Lenny Kravitz as Cinna?

Reading the 2nd book right now, was pretty skeptical that they would "twilight" it but this trailer has me very excited.

I enjoyed the first book. I wasn't surprised when I heard they were turning it into a movie cause it certainly lends itself well to that medium. The trailer looks good. I know its only two minutes long but it looks faithful to the book so far.

Four movies? So there might actually be an ending this time?

That's what I had originally read. I'll try and find the article.

Just finished book two. Will be interesting to see which direction the third one goes.

Not the original I read but this shows it;

Quote:
It was subtly mentioned and then outright confirmed today that the "Hunger Games" Trilogy would be headed to the big screen as four separate movies. What Lionsgate failed to mention (or more specifically avoided answering) was where the fourth film would be coming from.

Obviously the initial tome is incapable of being split up -- so let's focus on "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay" since there is enough meat in between those pages to fuel three additional movies. Or at least there can be since I'm guessing we'll be seeing a lot of new movie material from Suzanne Collins, who wrote both the books and the screenplay.

The third book focuses on The Districts uniting to take down The Capital & President Snow -- this is accomplished by Katniss becoming The Mockingjay, a symbol of rebellion and power. Once the action in this installment kicks up, there are few places to actually scissor the tome in two.

What, are ya just going to stop the action with Katniss buried a hundred fur coats? I don't think so. To me, it's much more likely that "Catching Fire" is where the split will happen since there is a very logical place to divide the fun: The Quarter Quell.

Warning, the link contains some spoilers if you haven't read the second book yet.

Enjoyed the first book way more than a dude my age should. Optimistic this could be good.

Same here. I originally read the first one because my girlfriend and her son were reading it, and they wanted me to before the movie came out. Now I feel like I'm way more into the books than they are.

In the true spirit of dorkiness, here are some actors cast for these movies. The Haymitch casting is brilliant, IMO.

Katniss - Jennifer Lawrence
Peeta - Josh Hutcherson
Cinna - Lenny Kravitz
Haymitch - Woody Harrelson
President Snow - Donald Sutherland
Effie Trinket - Elizabeth Banks

To reiterate my above post, maybe they can make an ending this time since they have 4 movies.

The only thing I'd really like is a better framing of where the districts are. I can assume that they are numbered sequentially (i.e. 1 is beside 2, etc) and that 12 is in Appalachia (where most of the coal in the country is located) but then where is 13? The geography is a little odd to picture when no concrete picture other than general descriptions are given.

I'm 34 and like Rebar I've enjoyed the books more than I probably should have. Well, minus the "ending", holy crow that was bad. Steven King couldn't write a worse ending. 8)
