Fugazi Rises Again, in Online Archive
By BEN SISARIO
Published: November 25, 2011
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/26/arts/ ... .html?_r=1

Quote:
Less known was that the band fastidiously recorded almost every concert. After letting audio tapes for more than 800 shows languish in a closet for years, Fugazi has begun putting them all on its Web site, with the first batch of 130 shows going up next Thursday.

In keeping with its commercial principles of low prices and trust in fans, the shows’ suggested price is $5 each, with a sliding scale of $1 to $100, for the cheap or the philanthropic.

...

The recordings capture everything that happened onstage until the tapes stopped rolling, including stage banter, sparkling or dull, and performances, glorious or flubbed. For preservation’s sake, the band did not edit out anything.

...

Sucks PJ gave up on being like Fugazi...

Right, but they're not consciously making efforts to make less money, so their credibility is pretty much shot. Did you see Ed's house in the PJ20 movie? It looked like something from the fucking Jetsons. Fugazi were more Flintstones. Or maybe that show with the baby dinosaur that would hit his dad on the head with the frying pan.

That was a great show.

My favorite episode was the one where they were going to throw the grandma into the tar pit, but didn't at the last minute.

Yeah--good show.

Hmmm, I don't remember that one. Is it on YouTube?

If not, perhaps you'd be willing to transcribe it in this thread?

Some cooler dinosaur convinces Robbie to eat this plant that gets you stoned. He does and his family is disappointed. I'm sure he eventually quits.

That sounds like a great episode. I remember when I was 8 or 9 really thinking Robbie was cool--maybe that episode is subconsciously the root of the stoner phase I went through in high school.

Yea, they should do what we would all do and make sure they stay poor.

The Sinclair family was consciously modeled after the Winslow family, correct?

I don't think so. I think the Sinclairs were just modeled after your generic sitcom family.

The joke I was trying to make was that the Sinclairs seem black.

That song title thread was pretty easily the peak of PJ Chat's existence.
