This is one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Hype Williams cinematography is top notch, the use of lighting is very inventive, the story is great, the actors (many of them first timers) do good jobs, and it ends with a very uplifting message that's in sharp contrast to many gangsta flicks. I reccomend, especially if you like movies with a lot of "cool shit" that still have a backbone.

Plus, my brother and I are white versions of Tommy and Sincere, respectively. I'm not kidding either.

Hehehe, only kidding. I really liked this one as well. I still have that soundtrack - I love that DMX track and the woman singing about a lost love especially, but they're all good tunes.

I thought DMX's performance was great and Hype Williams did a really good job on this movie. In some ways, I find it underrated because it's very entertaining and it's actually stark and human, but on the other hand, I sometimes feel like the actors and the story were trying too hard to be "real." I get the idea that Hype Williams had been watching Menace II Society a lot while he was making this film - which, by the way, is one of my favorite movies, but it can be laughable how serious every situation can be and how the story was overdramatized perhaps... As displayed in the Wayans' Don't be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.

Overall, it's a good film. It's entertaining and it's one of the quality "gangsta" movies out there. Like Nate said, it has a backbone but it's still credible and cool. I think the two lead characters are wonderful and fairly memorable.
