Kinda unfair that McCready is judged and ranked by his work with Pearl Jam, because this solo might be his masterpiece.

well, it wasn't bad - it reminded me of NAIS and Deep at some points. i must say that i really like Layne's voice so maybe i'm more overwhelmed by the vocal performance than by the guitar solo. Mike's very good at playing for the moment in the pentatonic/blues scale, meaning that he's hit or miss and that one soulful guitar solo on a slow number might sound a lot like another. the heart and intensity Mike brings in a solo is often determined by the heart and intensity of the song itself; sometimes he elevates it, sometimes he only follows a simple line, sometimes he sounds like he's on automatic pilot. maybe that's a sign of musical honesty, idk. i'd really like to hear a fully constructed McCready solo that also asks for some additionnal composition in the backing track, something that brings the song further, or totally somewhere else. anyway, since i have the feeling i'm often on the negative side of things as of late, i'd like to say that i think that Mike is, more often than not, very sympathetic to the songs he solos on; you can feel he's a sensible guy.

Agreed that it is an awesome song and Mike's playing is spectacular. Is it his best work? I don't know about that. I'm not saying it isn't his best, I just don't know how it is even possible say. I also totally hear the NAIS similarities.

I love the bassline all, it's quite simple, but it really sets the tone.
