This is the biggest most cavernous room I've ever been in. Not sure of the capacity, feels like a stadium, but side to side, front to back the actual empty space above the crowd is enormous to such a degree that those in the second half encounter sound delay if it's humid, which it will be. Coupled with the fact that PJ don't seem to enjoy playing there(Ed was throwing shit fits and beer bottles at the techs last time) I don't know if this gig should be a priority for anyone. Go to Berlin or Scandinavia instead. Plus Manchester is fucking boring as a town.
My two cents.

Not as good as the 02 in London then Dime? That place set a high standard for me. Even topped the intimacy of the Shepherds Bush Empire.

O2 or MEN? They loved O2. I was in MEN both times(quote outta context here we come. Except it's in context. Completely) theyve played there and they really seemed like they'd have rather been anywhere else. Just not a great room for them. It's Vast!

I'm not doing this one. Was working for the o2 presale, am working on Friday too.

£50 tickets, £100 on the train, £?? for a hotel and it's Manchester, not London. Manchester is a long way from the bottom of the country.

I'd get excited if they announce a London gig. After Hyde Park I'm not doing another PJ festival. The gig was distant and the crowd was shite.

Seeing PJ in the UK is increasingly becoming a lot of effort with not much to make it worthwhile.

Attending Hyde park was pointless altogether.

I agree with the first point.

On the 2nd point, eh, that show was amongst my top 5 experiences, though the band didn't have much to do with that :)

Just short of £55 a ticket, this better be good.

Easily the most I've paid for a single concert.

Is that considered expensive over there?

It makes me wonder why Pearl Jam's shows are so pricy over here, if that's the case. Tickets on the 2006 and 2009 tours were around $110-$115 per ticket in AUD from memory, which works out at £70-£74 (or $110-$115 in USD, there's virtually no difference).

Does it cost that much more to haul their gear and staff over there than it does down here?

Really? I can't remember what I paid last time around. Long gone are the days when it was £35 for a top act/lineup

Code:
2000 Wembley     £18.50 + £1.85 = £20.35
2007 Wembley     £35.00 + £4.55 = £39.55
2009 SBE/02      £40.00 + £5.00 = £45.00
2010 Hyde Park   £47.50 + £5.75 = £53.25
Yeah, it's nuts.

Ludicrous. I paid £68 for a Reading festival day pass to see a bunch of whingey bitch american teen bands and Placebo, the most kitsch band in music, before PJ.

Those that have been to the MEN before....

Which is better...block 102 row H seats 3 and 4 or Block 115 Row N seats 5 and 6? The seats in block 102 look like they'll give me too narrow a side view of the stage. Can anyone give me advice?

I'd go for the side view, narrow as it is. That place vast and cavernous. You'd need binoculars otherwise.
