Unbelievably depressing movie. It's great, but it just crushes you in the end. Makes you never want to do drugs again.

There's the trinity of the post-Woodstock bummer films:

Easy Rider
Midnight Cowboy
Deliverance

Similar styles and bleak messages about life.

Jack Nicholson is awesome in Easy Rider though.

I just can't agree that this is a great movie. You can say I don't get it or whatever, but I found it insufferably boring.

I do agree that the soundtrack is good, though.

I wouldn't say that doing drugs or not doing drugs has very much to do with the movie at all. It's about doing something with your life vs. doing nothing with your life...among other things...

It took me a couple watches before I got it, and now appreciate every aspect of it.

See, I said that because I knew somebody would rebut w/ that statement.

If someone dislikes a film, it doesn't necessarily mean they don't get it.
