I don't care so much about the internet capable stuff as I do the ability to have a whole bunch of reading material in one space displayed on a screen that is easy on the eyes.

I'm bumping this because I'd like to know if anyone out there has purchased any kind of e-reader -- whether Kindle, Sony, or this new Kobo device at $149 through Indigo -- and if your experience has been a good one.

I have the sony reader. Mainly got it because at the time I was most concerned with being able to get Google books for free.
It's been great...funny how easily it replaced the traditional book reading experience for me. And all the classic Russian books for free was a great bonus.
6. Checked every now and again online until I found a place where they were on sale for just over a hundred, but I can't imagine I would have paid any more for it.

I bought one for my wife for Christmas last year. I was skeptical at first but she loves it, and would gladly read off of the Kindle instead of an actual book.

I know the kindle has a full color version. I'm waiting for one to come out i can get graphic novels on too and full color magazines. I don't think you can do that with the full color kindle.

Be sure to download the ktru rice radio app for your streaming needs while reading, thodoks. The Treasures of the Sixties program that comes on Wednesday nights is essential listening, IMO.

That sounds a little intimidating. How does one go about downloading one of these "apps?"
Do you have the Fire or the plain Kindle? Because on the Fire it's as easy as tapping the "Apps" tab and searching whereas on the plain Kindle it's not possible.

I have the 3G Kindle Touch. There is no mention of Fire anywhere on the device.

I respectfully withdraw my recommendation that you download the ktru app, based on this new information. Whoever, if you have a smart phone, you may want to explore that ktru avenue further.

I think my favorite thing is being able to make instant notes and having them be all consolidated. Now I can go back and re-read all my favorite parts of any book really easily.
