In November 2009, a little brown bear named Mr Snuggleton had one wish — for Pearl Jam to play Black in Auckland. He contacted Susan and Lisa and as many of you know, they started a sketch campaign on the Pit which did indeed achieve Black being played for Mr Snuggleton in Auckland on 27/11/09.
During the concert, the crowd was going wild and as Mike scanned the crowd, his eyes and finger landed on Snuggs…and they had a ‘moment’. Mike’s eyes softened and he mouthed “Get up here little buddy”.
Snuggs lept out of their arms towards Mike…but security intercepted and threw Snuggs back over the rail. Mike played on, flicking glances back at Snuggs throughout the concert, and as Yellow Ledbetter finished, Mike walked off stage with sad eyes and screamed to Snuggs “Come visit me in Seattle for a holiday!”
So in December, Mr Snuggleton packed his little red suitcase and his present to Mike (a red book) and stowed away in a NZPost bag set off to Seattle. He was so excited! This is the last photo taken of Mr Snuggleton…
