Vegas is a pretty cheap flight from anywhere in the continental US. The band would make loads of money without having to endure the wear and tear of travel. Fans would be able to plan ahead and even see multiple shows without having to drive all over hell. Plus, there is more shit to do there than, say, Alpine Valley.
On the other hand, I get the joy of seeing the band in your hometown or a favorite city (Hello, Chicago!). Maybe the shows wouldn't feel special anymore.
I guess I'd like to see them try it on. 3 weeks, 4 shows a week. Make it an annual thing. Do it in February so I have a reason to get out of this frozen wasteland. Then they can play a show in Boston in the summer so no one bitches.

i am buzzing. not drunk. i don't think i cundiffed either. the band isn't doing full-scale world tours anymore. they do tour legs. every fucking tour is a section of the world or, in the u.s., a section of the country. the band members strike me as world travelers who really don't like to be away from home. and they're all approaching 50, so it's not like they're a band at the height of popularity, firing on all cylinders. add to it that matt now has genuine double duty with another pretty big band, so how much touring is he going to want to do with both outfits?
i know this isn't going to happen. not really the point. i just happen to be exactly in my mid-30s. i like convenience. the band hasn't headlined a show in my state (mn) since 03. i like the idea of a relatively cheap jaunt to a place with good hotels and decent food. anyway.....
would they play a 2-4k venue or a 20k venue? i think that's the issue. nobody has ever had a vegas residency in a 20k venue. the band's ego is too big to do a 2-4k venue night after night.

Hey G2T, how is 10c's and CrowdSurge's l33t haxx0r research coming along, any updates?
Really, it wouldn't surprise me to see Pearl Jam do something like this, with $120 tickets and a token 10% of the proceeds going to Sierra Club or some shit (since WM3 is over).
I can see it now - "See Pearl Jam play their blockbuster album Backspacer with Public Image and Ole every night, plus other hits such as Last Kiss, Soldier of Love, No More, WMA detuned 4 steps, and a very special Red Mosquito with 3 keyboardists and 2 drummers!"

That would be me getting off the ride at this point if this was to happen.
The time that I have reason to mutter Celine Dion's name in the same breath as my favourite band is the time that I find myself a new favourite band.

But if all the Cirque du Soleil dancers got used to performing their acrobatics to the album version of Given to Fly, they'd be all kinds of fucked up when Pearl Jam showed up and started playing it at 2x speed.

I think it's this version of the band that is stopping me from buying tickets for Manchester...
