I remember reading the Death of Superman comics when I was a kid and thinking it was the most awesome thing ever. Looking back, that whole getting-to-Metropolis-after-seeing-wrestling-ad-on-TV plot device was... just a little silly.

Can someone make one of these things to explain Crisis on Infinite Earths to me ... oh, and why DC is making a Watchmen prequel?

The Watchmen thing is because they're soulless money grubbing whores. No idea about Crisis, though.

Watching this video, its hard not to wonder what the fuck the writers were thinking regarding a bunch of stuff related to the death and return.

not sure on the watchman prequels but ill try crisis

basically DC had to come up with a way to straighten out their convoluted universe. they had all these alternate earths, earth 2, earth s, earth z etc..

so crisis was created as a way to blend them all together. in some storys wonderwoman was part of JSA, others JLA and other stories she wasnt a part of founding either (just a small example)

they created the anti-monitor who was going to destroy the universes. to that end, they killed off the flash everyone knew and loved, barry allen, who was able to stop the anti monitor and then mash all the earths together for some type of cohesion.

they have since brought back the 52 multiverses

That explanation isn't really as entertaining as the video.
