I went here last week and it was great. It was my first time too so that was great. Small place, but then all I want is food, in and out, get back to work.

There's this place called Kome here that's quickly become one of my favorites. They serve sushi but they also have traditional Japanese food that you might find in a pub or or other casual environment that is incredible.

So far I've tried:

Yaki-Onigiri (grilled rice balls)
Image

Takoyaki (octopus dumplings)
Image

Sunomono (cold salad with shrimp, ocotopus and seaweed)
Image

Ika-Yaki (whole grilled squid with grated ginger)
Image

Shio-Saba (grilled mackerel)
Image

Really good stuff.

It is. Those octopus balls are topped with bonito flakes and when they first bring them out the steam makes them flutter, it looks awesome.

What kind of pubs are you frequenting? The ones I go to barely serve American food, let alone Japanese.

Yeah, sorry if that wasn't clear. My local watering whole definitely isn't slinging squid alongside pitchers.
