Buffalohed, this thread is for you. And you, Echoes, I think you had Bees in your top albums of 08 so far.

I got Earth 2 and The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull this weekend. They're completely different, but they're both pretty awesome too. I like the quotes on the back of the Earth 2 case, especially: "...a physical presence in the room... I can almost touch the sounds"

Hrm this should actually probably be made for LoathedVermin or something! I'm not a huge Earth fan, they aren't bad though.

I haven't listened to them for a long time, actually.

LV72 will come out here straight away and tell us how their Extra-Capsular Extraction EP is the best album ever made.

I'm a really big fan of Earth. I don't think they've made a bad album. Once they reformed in about 2003 they didn't miss a god damned beat, and it was amazing. Hex: Or Printing in the Infernal Method, the Hibernaculum EP, and Bees are all great. Hex is kind of gothic western soundtrack stuff, a lot darker sounding than Bees. Hibernaculum is just reworkings of older songs, but is still pretty cool.

Earth 2 is a monster and a drone landmark. It is absolutely sickening how slow that thing moves. Great album to just lie there and let it press up against you and crush you. I think it is awesome. Pentastar - In The Style of Demons is one I bought recently and it is also outstanding. Shows more of the meditative direction they'd head off to, and the closer is probably the best Earth song out there ("Coda Maestoso in F Flat Minor"). There's vocals on this bad boy. They're about what you'd expect.

Uh yeah, I'd rep these guys as a top-tier band. So much more than just drone music. Lots of old americana/rock and roll influence on Pentastar.

I've got Hibernaculum as well which I've only listened two once or twice. Will be checking out Hex, then, too.

"Miami Morning Coming Down II (Shine)" is one of the best songs to come out this year.

TWO MORE WEEKS.

They're going to be touring as a three-piece, no cello, and with their early 2000s bassist back in the fold.

Nice. The cello was pretty cool when I saw them a few summers ago. But the full on band should be something else.

Great show.

Setlist was the same as they've been playing recently:

Badger
Old Black
Multiplicity of Doors
The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull
(New song)/Descent to the Zenith/His Teeth Did Brightly Shine/The Corascene Dog/The Rakehell
Ouroboros is Broken
Tallahassee

Dylan seemed to using a tiny bit more distortion in the absence of the cello.
