One of my friends is into some of the same kind of music I am, and I decided to make him a mixed CD of the Screaming Trees. He's really into classic rock, psychedelic/acid rock, and old-school blues and folk, so I tried to put together some Screaming Trees stuff that incorporates those, plus some good ol' hard rock. What do you guys think of the tracklist I made?
1: Halo of Ashes
2: Change Has Come
3: Dying Days
4: Sworn and Broken
5: Troubled Times
6: Paperback Bible
7: Traveler
8: Alice Said
9: Butterfly
10: All I Know
11: Watchpocket Blues
12: Tomorrow Changes
13: Hold On (Gospel Plow)
14: Nearly Lost You
15: Where Did You Sleep Last Night (with Kurt Cobain)
16: Halo of Ashes [Live] - not listed

Seems OK. Too much guff and not enough Sweet Oblivion for my liking, though.

There are some weak songs in here, especially watchpocket blues and paperback bible

1: Halo of Ashes
2: Change Has Come--cut
3: Dying Days
4: Sworn and Broken
5: Troubled Times
6: Paperback Bible---cut
7: Traveler
8: Alice Said
9: Butterfly
10: All I Know
11: Watchpocket Blues--cut
12: Tomorrow Changes--cut
13: Hold On (Gospel Plow)--the song is actually called gospel plow
14: Nearly Lost You
15: Where Did You Sleep Last Night (with Kurt Cobain)
16: Halo of Ashes [Live] - not listed---cut

The trees were not an amazing live band. you're better off with studio tracks. Think about adding Jule Paradise, Dying Days, Dime Western (especially if they like psychadelic rock) Shadow of the Season, and Lay Your Head Down instead.

If you can find them, their covers of Darkness Darkness from the True Lies Soundtrack and their cover of working class hero from the Lennon tribute record are both fantastic.

Stip - I agree, they werent so great live, but the live version of Halo of Ashes (it's on Youtube) is actually really good IMO. Bit more raw.

I'm so used to being psuedo-corrected by chud :haha: :haha:

Anyways, I'm shocked that you listed Paperback Bible, Tomorrow Changes, and Change Has Come as weak

actually I can't even remember how change has come goes, which doesn't really commend the song. Tomorrow Changes is vaguely pleasant but you could do so much better. And I think paperback bible is just flat out weak. have you heard the working class hero cover? I'd certainly throw that on. It's fantastic
