My english teacher last year told me that in the early 90's (cant remember the year) he saw Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and the Black Crowes at Madison Square Garden. I dont so much care about the Black Crowes... but did PJ and Nirvana really play together at the Garden...? I didnt even know such a show existed.

It didn't.

The only shows Nirvana and Pearl Jam played together (to my knowledge) are the run of dates in Dec 91/Jan 92 supporting RHCP:

12/27/91 - Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, Los Angeles, CA
12/28/91 - Pat O'Brien Pavilion, Del Mar Fairgrounds, Del Mar, CA
12/29/91 - University Activity Center, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ
12/31/91 - Cow Palace, Daly City, CA
01/02/92 - Salem Armory Auditorium, Salem, OR

He probably watched the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards on tv.

That's probably the only time that those three bands were in the same place at the same time - and certainly the only time they performed at the same gig. (It took place at Pauley Pavilion in L.A., though, not at MSG.)

My friend's dad insists that he saw David Bowie take a shit onstage at the Spectrum on the Ziggy Stardust Tour. You would think that someone else would have mentioned it...

You sure he didn't mean he saw each band at The Garden on separate occasions? That would make much more sense...

Nirvana never played MSG.

Pearl Jam and Nirvana were scheduled to play some festivals together in June/July '92, but both bands cancelled some dates.

They were also supposed to do MTV Live N' Loud 12/13/93, but Eddie was sick so Nirvana played longer.

Haha, nope, I said something ,like "really? I didnt know they played together, I thought they didnt like eachother" (this was right after I got into Nirvana, so I still believed all that rivalry bullshit) and he insisted they played together and he saw it.

I've heard it about Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart & Alice Cooper in various combinations, but I've never heard it about David Bowie except from this guy.

Pearl Jam didn't play the Garden until 98. Eddie talked about it quite a bit that first night, as I recall from the recording.

If I'd been born 2-3 years earlier I would have gone to this show.

Your teacher is full of shit.

A bizarre claim by the teacher. There is confusing old shows you have seen and then there is just making shit up. I think this falls into the later category.
