Sunburn Crazy Mary
I have to admit, Love Reign is the better song, but I feel like the things I like about the performance are resting almost entirely on the heavy lifting that The Who did in writing it.
i don't know. I don't think it's all that exciting a song (but I'm not a huge fan of the original). This is 100% about Ed's vocals for me

I just don't think they're doing anything new with it; it's pretty much a spot on re-creation. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just that I'm basically casting a vote for The Who by voting for it. Eddie sings it really well, but again, he's singing what someone else has laid out for him.

It leaked a few years ago with that pre-lost dogs demo compilation. It's listed on that italian site with the pearl jam recording guide as recorded I think during the Yield sessions.

Even though that SeaTut73 guy, who usually knows such things, insisted it was a Bayleaf outtake - but if that's true, I still can't understand why Sony would've put it on a list of songs for potential inclusion on Lost Dogs.

61. Love Reign O'er Me vs. Sunburn 62. Crazy Mary vs. Of the Earth
Sat with this all day. Man. Sunburn is great. One of stones best and it should have been on the album. The solo is fantastic. The guitar coloring is great. Unfortunately, when times are tough..im gonna reach for Reign o'er me every time.

I'm afraid that you're doing it wrong.
Yeah. Of The Earth is a pretty ordinary song
I like it, but it's no Crazy Mary. I can't help but think people are voting based on their memory of being bored out of their skull by interminable live versions of it since 2003. The studio recording has a very enjoyable hushed, spooked quality to it and the live renditions from the 2000 tour were spectacular. Of the Earth is one of my favourite musical pieces they've come up with in the last five years or so, but it's hard to make a real comparison without a finished studio version - Crazy Mary is the clear winner of that match-up for me.
Love Reign, well, I think my lack of interest in that one has been well explained. Suffice to say, if you've voted for it, know that I secretly think less of you.
