i'm gonna check these guys out the next time i can in Austin. i think they are playing emo's in a couple of weeks but can't make that one. hopefully they'll play another date sometime soon.

finally made this happen on Friday. good show.

I was there too man, it was pretty kickass. I was extremely drunk. If you saw the guy in the black Cedric Benson UT jersey in the pit, that was my brother. :haha:

yeah i actually saw and recognized you from some of the photos you've posted on here. i was on the balcony above the stage looking right down at all of you crazy fuckers in/near the pit. good times.

Warp Riders is a rare concept album that in no way sucks. in fact, its fucking awesome.

I love Warp Riders, but I don't think I'd call it even the best album by The Sword, not to mention the abundance of great metal we've had in the last few years. But let's not argue about it--these guys are pretty fuckin' awesome.

My friend brought this over the other day saying I would like it. He put it on and I asked him if he'd ever heard of Orange Goblin? I played him a song that was identical to the one he was playing from The Sword. It was funny. So I told him I liked the album the first time I bought it 12 years ago or so.

Just checked out Orange Goblin they are pretty good, Thx!

Cheers sir. I just love the mix of the groove oriented riffs and more intense thrash-y stuff that they do on here. And the space concept is fun and fitting for them.

Which album do you like best?

I'd probably call Age of Winters my favorite, but it would probably depend on the day. Probably what puts Age of Winters over the top for me is Iron Swan. That song just fucking kills me every time. That gentle little intro, into the punk/trash riff, then it settles into that dirty little groove before it drops that massive stomp riff! Yeah, I love that song!

The one thing that actually was a tad off-putting to me with Warp Riders was the concept. They'd probably taken the dark ages thing about as far as they should have, but I didn't feel like the space theme fit them as well. But I'm splitting hairs--it, like everything The Sword has done, is a pure joy to listen to. For as hard as they rock, they are catchy as shit.

i think the space concept is great fun (and I love the old Heavy Metal movie), but mostly i appreciate them changing up their sound. I also think its their most consistent album. I love them all though and I am super excited about seeing them this weekend.

the southern rock influenced riffs on Lawless Lands and Chronomancer I: Hubris make my nipples so hard. Its been a while since i've been so ridiculously in love with an album.

I've seen damn near every band I've ever wanted to see, except for these guys. Enjoy the show, I'm sure they'll be awesome!

Love this band. If you asked me to name one band that should be a lot bigger than they are, it's these guys. Awesome riffs, great songs, and amazing live act.

Anyone see the No Reservations with them? Was cool to hear their music on TV, and was a good episode...gotta love Texas BBQ.

Pre-ordered the new album and hopefully seeing them live in Sacramento Dec. 10th.

Looking forward to the new record!

Haven't ever seen them live, but that'll change in December--nabbed tickets to see them in Denver!

I am super pumped for the new album, def my favourite band at the moment.

They were announced in the Soundwave lineup today so that helped make my decision to do melbourne and adelaide easier, now just to get to a sideshow hopefully.

Seen them 3 times but all either opening for metallica or at a festival where they only got 30 min
