Seeing these guys tonight in a tiny 150-200 capacity venue. First show of 2012 for these guys, hoping to get a taste of the new album. Bring it.

So this show was amazing. Tiny venue and the sound in this place is perfect. Royal Thunder opened the show and if you guys haven't checked them out you should. Kind of a Black Mountain vibe going on there. Anyway, Baroness brought it. They played 3-4 new songs (I can't tell if one was a new instrumental or not). The first one was super melodic, really different stuff for them. The last one they played was heavy as fuck, maybe one of the better things they've done. Other than that, they played a ton of great old shit. Rays on Pinion owned my night, but the whole thing was great. Apparently they have a bit of a tradition of opening tours in Columbus, per Daizley's onstage banter. Probably the best show I've seen so far this year.

Awesome. I've seen Baroness twice, and they are indeed a stellar live band.

Well, then. That is certainly a different sound for them. It has some of the elements from past Baroness, but the production is much cleaner sounding. I'm not sure whether that is a good or bad thing...

it's definitely polished but as long as the songs are good i don't really take issue with that too much. for the most part i like this tune but there is a verse in there (starts at 0:35) where the vocals sound just a little bit like Nickelback, and i find that unnerving. Reading through the comments it seems like i'm not the only one who picked up on it but it appears to be ruffling some feathers. I think it's the multi-tracked vocals and the delivery, not the music. It'd be what Nickelback would sound like if they didn't completely suck i guess. The rest of the song is pretty cool though. really looking forward to hearing the rest. if this is the single then that bodes well for the rest since the singles usually turn out to be the shittiest song on the album.

I suppose, but this is probably the first Baroness song that we've felt the need to rationalize. But Baroness hasn't let me down yet so I'm not going to worry about it.

saw Baroness over the weekend and they were great. played two new songs, March to the Sea and Take My Bones Away and both sounded excellent. also loved the live version of Steel that Sleeps the Eye...awesome take on the song. lost my wallet in the pit during Meshuggah though. kinda killed the rest of the night for me.

I was a little taken aback at first by the change. If i completly forget who Baroness where and what i loved about them and take this as a new band there is a lot to like there so far with both songs.
I mean you kind of saw them going this way slowly over the last few albums Blue is so different than the ep's it's not funny.
I'm going to check this out with an open mind so far i like what i'm hearing.
