One of my favourite author / illustrators, a major influence in my artwork and now my poetry. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be an illustrator and writer because of this guy. And because of this guy, I am.

Thanks man. Let the wild rumpus start in Heaven.

Aw, damn :-(

If you wanna have a good cry, there was an interview with him on NPR maybe 6 months ago talking about how all his friends are dead, including his long-time partner who he had to keep secrets for decades. If there's anything like heaven, I hope he's with him again today.

Was bummed to hear this. His interview with Colbert from earlier this year (or late last year?) was great.

There's your 3: Adam Yauch, Maurice Sendak, and George Lindsay.

I found the interview. Beautiful, and a perfect demonstration that children's literature was never second-rate.

I always thought that 'Animal' from the Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack was remarkably similar to 'Aye Davanita'.

Compare and contrast.

Me too, along with his quote above. I'll be disappointed in my FB friends if I don't get a comment or at the very least a like.
