Rising tensions and band in-fighting nearly forced Foo Fighters to disband in 2002 during the recording of One By One. The band lacked enthusiasm and wasn't functioning properly, so after initial recording was completed, Dave Grohl scrapped the record and joined Queens of the Stone Age. Later in the year, the band reconvened, performed at Coachella, and then re-recorded the album, discarding certain songs in favor of new ones. Having spent so much money on studio time, the discarded music was dubbed the "Million Dollar Demos" by Taylor Hawkins. Ten years later and some of that music has started to leak out.

Oh man, this is exciting. I wish they'd do something like what Trent Reznor did with NIN and release it via torrent unofficially. It's obviously not something that will sell well enough to actually release physically so just get it out there so the fans can hear it.
I guess it helps if you do/don't have a contract, though.

One by One was pretty disappointing with the exception of a few songs.....although I don't have 'firey hatred' for it. Come Back does indeed sound way better
