========== SPLIT FROM THE Pearl Jam Partners With UPS THREAD ======================
As a RM outsider: let me speak for the unspoken population of people who LOVE Backspacer but HATE this board. There are alot of us. We've just divorced ourselves from this place because we're just not where you guys are at (re: see the small number of posts I have, I've been a member of this community, with various other usernames, since this site was at it's old incarnation forget what the name of it was) . Do not assume that RM is anywhere near the end all be all of the PJ fanbase. It is not. This is just one segment, and we've moved the fuck on from this crowd. Carry on.

Nope. Dyed-in-wool fan, early days, middle period, and today. 13 shows since 1998. This place is just one speck of the PJ hardcore fan community.

Yah, you lost all credibility when you spelled "a lot" as one word. Also, telling a bunch of people with 10k+ posts that they and the board suck doesn't go a long way in convincing us you're right.

What's your home board, brother?

As a RM insider: let me speak for the spoken population of people who HATE Backspacer but FREQUENT this board. There are a few of us. We've ingratiated ourselves into this place because we're exactly where the majority of other RM posters are at (re: see the large number of posts I have, I've been a member of this community, with various other usernames, since this site was at it's old incarnation forget what the name of it was) . We know that RM is nowhere near the end all be all of the PJ fanbase. This is just one segment, and we've moved the fuck on from the sycophants that infect other boards. We all really appreciate that you removed both your left hand from your Backspacer vinyl and your right hand from your cock long enough to revisit your keyboard and craft this message, confirming for us essentially what we already knew. You, sir, are truly a credit to the Jamily.

Jesus, how many Pearl Jam message boards could there possibly be? And who the hell has the time to go to all of them and post?
thats kinda what i was thinking. if rm is just one segment of hard core pj fans, how many others are there? 1?
I know of this place, the pitt, and that poster site one (black red yellow??). Then the non board stuff like gremmie, and pearljambootlegs. Outside of that, I don't think I want to know of any more.

I kinda wish we didn't have a reputation as the negative board. I want us to be the intelligent board

Reputation by whom? Look at who it's coming from and see how much you value their opinion. You really care what the pearljam.com average user thinks of this place?

The reputation extends to other Pearl Jam bloggers and Ten Club staff.
I'm with stip. I want to be the intelligent board too. But I'm not going to moderate like the staff over at the Pit does. I surely don't want to run the unabashed fanboi show that goes on over there. We're going to let people voice their opinion. People are free to dislike albums, eras, songs, or even Pearl Jam in general.
I just think folks are often overbearing. This thread is a pretty good example. Look how quickly it went from a few succinct thoughts and comments to long soapbox rants.

Real talk: I regret being as big of a dick as I was upthread. And I don't care about whether this board is positive or negative; I'm mainly here because it's objective and interesting. I think there are plenty of truly interesting and articulate posters who populate this board, and I like reading and absorbing their thoughts, especially when they don't jive with mine. There are folks here who make me think, and I genuinely appreciate that. I also like snark and wit, which I generally find absent in places that celebrate rather than analyze the topic at hand.
