Don't know if there are any other fans of this guy on here but he's probably my favorite rapper working today and his last album "I'll Sleep When You're Dead" is one of my all-time favorites. His new one should be coming out before too long.
First two singles:

This is my album of the year so far. If you haven't heard anything from this album this might be the place to start. Also worth checking if you're a fan of Islands or TV on the Radio.

Every time I see this band name I think it's going to be about Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

Me too. Glad it's getting a little bit of attention even though there aren't a lot of rap fans on here. I think it almost transcends the genre and is just "great fucking music."

You're welcome man. Also if you like Killer Mike, El-P produced his new album R.A.P. Music that just came out and is also supposedly very good, I'll be checking it out soon. They're going on tour pretty soon, already got my tickets.

This album deserves more attention here. It's really fucking good. Has El-P always been so politcal in his music? I've heard random songs of his in the past but didn't really pay attention too closely. This almost feels like a concept album.

There's just not a lot of rap fans on here, which is understandable. But I agree, it's a great album. As for El-P's politics, he's always had kind of an anti-authoritarian bent but it's definitely been more pronounced on the last two albums. He's also clearly obsessed with post-apocalyptic and dystopian imagery so that lends to the intense, political vibe. I think it's a definitely a concept album, and El-P has even kind confirmed that, saying it was influenced by the death of his friend Camu Tao and is basically about the journey from despair to hope, wanting death to loving life. That's why the last song is really powerful to me, I love things that succeed at being genuinely uplifting without being corny. It also doesn't hurt that the El-P/Killer Mike/Despot verse trading in Tougher Colder Killer is probably the best thing I've heard in music all year.
Going to the show this Saturday, can't wait.
