As far as Arc, the email I received from Tenclub at the time stated otherwise, and I have not seen an official source state the claim that you make here (and I have seen elsewhere), that they were left off "on purpose" "in tribute". That's just baseless speculation from what I can tell.
Well, it's definitely not baseless. That's been my understanding of the issue ever since 2003, and there are certainly no shortage of places on the internet that support it. I mean, the Ten Club wouldn't bullshit you or anything, right?
Honest question, though--you seem to know a lot about recording, can you come up with what "technical limitation" would have prevented "Arc" from being recorded? Maybe I'm just a simpleton, but it seems like if you could record the rest of the show, you could record this. Or did they just happen to have technical errors every single night right at the time this song was being played? It just sounds like a fishy explanation to me. (Not that they'd have any reason to hide leaving it off in tribute--but I've long ceased to be surprised by the Ten Club doing silly things that make no sense to me.)
Oh, I knew it was bullshit. I actually went and looked for the email, and sure enough, my Gmail account only goes back to 2004 and that was a 2003 email. My only thought was that the repeater device was plugged straight into the PA or something, or some channel that didn't hit the tape. But I figured it was a choice not a limitation; my repeating of this information was purely cynical and sarcastic...but I realize it didn't come off this way.
As for 10c's response..."didn't want it on there" is quite a leap away from "didn't want it on there...in tribute to those that died". All the rest of that posted is unattributed fan speculation.

Sure, but 'didn't want it on there' seems to quite firmly suggest it was an artistic decision by the band, not motivated by technical concerns (despite any private emails they might've sent). In terms of official public communication, I think that's probably the definitive answer.
Anyhoo, it doesn't really matter - it appears we're all (more or less) on the same page here.
How about them 2012 boots, eh?! They sound incredible, their best sounding boots yet.

Arc was performed 9 times on the Riot Act tour and Ed lays down 9 vocal loops in the song. Plus I too remember it being explained somewhere at the time it was in tribute to those lost at Roskilde.

You remember it being speculated by fans and accepting it as fact. No one in the band or 10c has ever said any more than "didn't want it on there".
I'm not saying it's wrong. It could be true. But it would be a funny thing to perform a secret tribute to a very publicly known, terrible situation...a tribute that, out of context, pisses off your fans. Tributes by public figures done publicly are generally stated as such.

Not all of the PJ fanbase has to have every detail spoonfed to them. Nor does its intent have to be stated at all. It's classier as it is actually. They know we'll get it. We got it.

And it doesn't change the fact that they handed out postcards at all 3 shows I attended advertising the "full, unedited recording" available on bootleg. As I was in attendance for 2 out 9 Arc's, I was particularly peeved about this, possibly more pissed about this than anything else Pearl Jam/Tenclub has ever done (though PJ20 ticketing comes close).
9 years of being pissed at the exclusion of 9 Arcs from 9 shows. Perhaps now is the time to let the anger go.

I know to the band it's all about the "experience man" but could they give the same treatment to the 2010 boston boot as it sound like it was taped from bathroom stall.

I've been hoping that the 'select bootleg revival' they mentioned when they relaunched the website might include the odd 2008-2010 show given the proper Eliason treatment.

Also, in case anyone's on the fence, the increased dynamic range of the HD FLAC/ALAC files will mean that regular FLACs or MP3s created from those files will be of better sound quality than the normal FLACs and MP3s being sold by pearljam.com
So they're the best choice if you care even a little bit about sound quality, regardless of whether you have the equipment to take advantage of their full fidelity.

They're both reasonably solid for start-of-tour shows, but I enjoyed Manchester 1 quite a bit more than Manchester 2. Nice version of Deep on the latter, though. Ed's voice seems stronger on the first night and, while the out-of-practice rustiness was clearly present, the band seemed a little tighter too.
Really jazzed to hear the Amsterdam, Prague and Berlin shows from later in the leg. Arras was one of the unexpected gems from the 2009-2010 tour, I'll be interested to see if this year's show lives up to the same standard.
