i appear to have deleted the wrong folder on my computer, which was pretty bad but nothing life threatening until i realised that folder had contained pretty much every single photo i've ever taken with my digital camera.
before i go jump off a bridge, i'm sure there's a way of retrieving this by reverting back to a past setting of windows or something, isn't there? I'm using XP.

I think there are programs that can go in and get back deleted files, as long as the sectors on your HD haven't been overwritten yet. I'm sure there are those on this board with more knowledge on it than I.

I've used this DiskInternals Uneraser a couple times, and have had mixed results (I think it's like what Jeff mentioned.) It's worth a shot:

Good luck!

I'll try that one too Ara. Thanks very much! I'm really quite distraught here :(

Alright, I tried system restore, I tried three different restoration programs, I tried yelling at the computer, I tried pressing F8 and F2 (not at once), and I tried listening Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. None of these things worked, so I guess... that's that.
I did find your program better than the others I tried for the record Ara. It did find me some files, just not the ones I wanted.

Are the programs you're using free? If you're willing to pay for it, you might be able to bring your computer somewhere and have it done professionally. Like it was stated above, as long as the data wasnt written over (or something like that), I'd think there's a pretty good chance they could be retrieved. I've also had little luck using these restore programs to retrieve files that I erased, but I didnt take the next step to put money into it.

Good luck though.
