The unplugged version. Eddie had so much fire and passion in his voice, howling "We... belong together... we belong together... we belong... we belong together..." Holy shit it's so amazing. If the studio version with the hard electric guitar and the talkbox "do do do do do-do do" had that ending, it would be the best song ever made.

Black was the first PJ song I ever heard, my dad had me listen to it in the car when I was 13, and holy shit it was amazing. The ending was like, wow. Then my uncle played Release for me and my dad on his guitar and the floodgates opened. 2 years later, I am totally in love with Pearl Jam, it's like the most meaningful music I have ever heard... so Black is pretty special for me. And c'mon, how badass is Eddie
Melbourne, March 17, 1995. Love Ed's voice through the whole song, specially the melodies he mumbles at the end (no lyrics, just ohh and ahhm), and Mike's solo is amazing (not so complex as in 98, but I prefer this one, it gives me chills). And there's also some bootleg from 1992, where Ed sings "Without your match there is no flame" during the guitar intro (I think it's Finsbury, but ain't sure), that's a nice version too.

Yeah, that's Finsbury - June 6th. Another good one.

I wish we had a good copy of Merriweather Post from 1998. I remember thinking Black was the best song of the show and I was a little over Black at that time. Mike was ripping those great solos that tour. Ed went and leaned his ear up against the speaker while Mike just wailed away.
Definitely my favorite tune. The LO2L version is outstanding, and I love the usual suspects already mentioned here: Unpluuged, 4/3/94, but my favorite version of all time has to be Melborne 3/17/95. I never tire of it.

I love the way they used to play it (in '93 and '94 at least) where Dave would stop drumming during the bridge (?) - the "And now my bitter hands..." part - and it was just guitar and a bit of cymbals.
Really added to the drama of the song (if that's possible!).
