Dear Benevolent RM Overloads (and B), Hi. I buy a lot of vinyl, and lots of these pretty black plate-like things come with download codes to get a free copy of the same album off the interwebs in the very popular MP3 format (it's all the rage with kids these days); most of these codes can only be used once. Thanks to means you can probably guess about, I have no need for MP3s for these albums, so most of these codes just stay in the record sleeves for years. I want to ask if it's kosher for me to offer these codes to other RM members in a thread (say, this one). I know direct links to MP3s that are for sale are frowned upon, but since I own the code and hypothetically own a digital copy of the album, wouldn't it be alright to just hand out the links like candy? I just want to post a list of what I have in this thread; all of the links would be distributed in PM. Thank you for your business, and I look forward to a speedy reply!
Your Friend, Simple Torture

It's true that one of these mp3 codes led to a great musical discovery for me recently. I will be paying money to see this artist perform at a venue in my town next month, thanks to said mp3 code.

Discussion is going on in the mod forum. Give us a day or two to all weigh in.

Why would this be a problem? You're not giving away an illegal mp3, you're giving away a one time use coupon to get the mp3. You own that coupon, you should be free to give it to someone if you want.

It'll take me a few days to go through my collection and get all those annoying little cards. When I post the list, I'm thinking one per day per person

While I am behind your generosity 100%, I can't imagine letting go of all of those mp3 codes. I guess you don't drive as much as me, though.

I don't have a CD player or an MP3 player jack, so I listen to NPR to and from school every day. So I know a lot about ants and Syria, but not much else.

I'd certainly love to be on the list. Thanks for being willing to do this, by the way.
