Progressives have been bitching about corporations and rich people buying elections. The spent a few hundred million dollars these elections. But...
Barack Obama bought the state of Michigan and Ohio with 80 million dollars.
Barack Obama bought the state of Virginia by expanding the size of government and employing more people in the Loudon and Fairfax counties - while DC continues to experience deepening poverty.
Then you have the freebies promised to hispanics. It's kind of sick how all the Hispanic groups are now saying, "we voted you into office, now give us shit."
So corporations and rich people shouldn't be able to buy elections with their own money, but progressives are giddy about Obama buying the election with billions of dollars of tax payer money.

that's not as big a contradiction as you perceive it, lw.
The People, which can include as many labels as you'd like to slice it into, are voting for candidates that are seeking to benefit The People and not voting for the candidates that are seeking to benefit The Few, the small number of campaign-contributors that support candidates that want to suppress the voice of others. It seems like a pretty clear mandate.
LOL @ Hispanics saying "give us shit." How dare they desire fair immigration reform?
Yes, how dare they. If you came here illegally, you should get the fuck out.
There is NO REASON to have immigration reform.
Being Hispanic should not grant preferential treatment to immigrate here. Your ability to contribute to our society should.

Working, especially in the fields illegals work in, is a pretty straightforward contribution to society.

Tyranny of the majority ftw.
If this is tyranny of the majority, the system as it is is a tyranny of the minority (yeah, there are people living off the state--but there are a lot more legitimate contributors who hardly benefited from the good times of the bubble while getting royally fucked by the bust, while the people most influential in shaping the old system [both in the public and private sectors] are mostly doing pretty well)

Why should we allow illegals to work in those fields when there are record numbers of people on food stamps, record numbers of people on welfare rolls, record number of "disabled people", record numbers of people on medicaid, you get the point? 7.9% unemployment, and we have illegals working on our farms? It's absurd.
In my opinion there is one of two options. Cut the welfare so that the citizens compete with the illegals, or cut the illegals and force farmers and consumers to shoulder the true costs of hiring citizens.
The tyranny of the majority at this point is the ever growing recipient class appropriating the wealth of others to themselves. It extends far beyond corproate welfare whores and social welfare whores.

Where does it extend to?
