Am I the only one who thinks this is the greatest science fiction movie ever made?
I respect anyone's opinion about this movie being decent and enjoyable, despite my low regard for it. But to call it the "greatest sci-fi movie ever made?" You're gonna have to explain that one.
He mentioned a few different things in the 8+ posts he's made in this thread
Those few different things need some context.
I figured the part where I admitted that I have generally bad taste in movies was adequate context.

I saw this through netflix. I wanted to like it, really I did. It just didn't have the effect I was hoping for though. First, I guess I didn't think it was going to be as 'scary' as it was and felt way too tense through much of the movie. By the time they revealed the crazy guy from the other ship I had pretty much given up on the film altogether.

It helps to see it in a badass theater with awesome sound. I didn't like the movie on the whole, but the visual and sound work were amazing.

I agree the cinematography looked pretty great- just from the scene at the beginning where the captain is setting how bright the display of the sun should be- cool stuff.

Funny this one got bounced back up. I just saw it on Netflix last week. I liked the first half of it, really enjoyed it actually, but thought it turned into pretty average sci-fi flick in the second half. The effects though were impressive; no doubt more so on the big screen. Cillian Murphy has one of the most distinctive looks in the business.

Yeah, I loved about 75% of this movie. I didn't really care for all "horrorish" chase stuff in the last half, but still great.
