No cooking for us. We went out to our favorite restaurant that was serving a Thanksgiving meal. Turns out you could order from their normal menu as well so we did that. Why eat dry turkey if you don't like it? I stuffed myself with my favorite foods from that place and it was awesome.
We went out a couple of years back, and I felt pretty bad about myself.

The last of the Thanksgiving leftovers are going down as I type. The setting is as it should be for this sort of thing. Late at night, alone, slightly buzzed on red wine, and Arlo Guthrie spinning on the turntable. Good night, America, how are you?

I do too, but I get the feeling that your tongue is close to the inside of your cheek there. If that's the case, I can't say I don't share that sentiment, but as you can see, my relationship with the holidays is a little more complex.

Under fun's new administration, the holidays become a way to go deep inside yourself and illuminate precisely the stuff you don't want to see or let anyone else see, and this stuff usually turns out (paradoxically) to be precisely the stuff we all share and respond to, feel.

what chinese did you get? i suspect our preferences for chinese diverge.
I went basic and just got an order of pork lo mein and some spicy salt baked chicken wings. I usually hate chinese food chicken wings but these ones are fantastic.

Speaking of bad chinese food, I ordered this duck the other day that was dry as hell. I did not like it.
I'd never ordered duck from a chinese restaurant before. Did I get a bad one, or is it universally accepted that duck isn't the way to go when it comes to culinary chink?

With chinese food you're just wasting time with the chicken wings. Unless they're the spicy salt baked wings from Imperial Terrace over on Sea St.

there was a fantastic vietnamese place in philadelphia (not so ironically called "vietnam") that had spectacular spicy salt-baked chicken and vegetables. one of my favorite dishes to this day.
