How about a plea a desperate plea for self control and personal responsibility???

Liberty has its costs. Some people can't handle it, stop fucking ruining it for the rest of us.

He'll maybe we should ban football. Linebackers seem to be poorly adjusted to society in general.

I'll jump on this bandwagon!

I agree there is no way an armed citizenry could resist such an army. This logic explains how we were able to stabilize Afghanistan so quickly.

You're pretty close to how I've long viewed the gun debate.

Of course we all have the freedom not to own guns and that's fine too.

I'm not sure about that. Wouldn't there be less violence if we were all required to own and carry a gun? i mean, you're probably likely to shoot at me if you know I might shoot back.

Or maybe I just happen to know that Electro is itching for a gun fight.

Actually, one of the most prevalent "costs" of liberty is the ability to ruin it for others. The more freedom you have, the greater your ability to do things that ruin other people's day, limit their ability to make the most of their own freedoms, or just kind of suck as a human being. I'm not arguing for gun control, but the idea that the word 'liberty' all by itself is a defense of anything is a little bit incomplete.

The idea here is less about guns and more about the sanctimony of Bob Costas.

Instead of assessing blame to the murderer, we blame the tool.

IE: Well, I don't like X so lets get rid of it as if that actually solves a problem.

Well if he didn't have a gun maybe this wouldn't have happened..... ok, so don't buy a gun and maybe it won't happen to you.

If he beats her to death and jumps off a cliff what then?

Every time something high profile happens involving a firearm the same lame ass articles and speeches are given and written.

I do my best to not impede other peoples freedom and happiness. All I ask in return is the same.

I agree with you, but you cannot deny that in America, the societal costs of gun ownership are pretty high. This is a cultural problem more than a 'tool availability' problem, but I can understand where the criticism comes from.

There is a compound bow problem in this country that needs addressing. At least one individual in Wyoming would be alive if it weren't for the wide availability of compound bows.

I especially appreciate all the flak the New York Post freelancer has received for the fellow killed in the subway. How was his death any less preventable from all those starving Ethiopians? This silly business of journalism divorcing individuals from their moral imperative to assit their fellow man has existed before the tabloid. Somehow maintaining a supposed distance and objectivity is more important? The attention that they'll bring to the cause is more useful? Perhaps, but they don't have to be tourists. Just pay a stringer and send some grain. It'll be cheaper and less morally problematic in the end.
