It's hard to keep up with this guy's releases. I happened to see this listed in my Discogs new releases sidebar, and it wasn't until I went to the website that I realized it was limited to 500 copies: http://www.friendsrecords.bigcartel.com ... ng-split-7

Yes.

It's the first one I heard. And I loved it (the title song is achingly... something, there are no words). But it's dark. For something slightly more accessible, maybe consider The Wonder Show of the World.

Excellent.

Thanks guys! You've just picked out my next BPB album.

I'd go with either Joya, Arise Thereafter, or Viva Lost Blues before Darkness.

But, thats just me.

That's after your tastes have already been established, though...I feel if you're pretty much completely new to BPB there's not really any other album that can beat it.

And the title track hits about as deep as a song can really.

What? The Lanegan song? Yeah I've head that, its cool. I really don't understand the massive hard on people around here have for Lanegan. He's good, don't get me wrong. But, I don't know.

Maybe I'm biased cause I started with Joya, and thats what got me hooked. But shit, Last Blues is pretty much a straightforward rock record. If you can hang with those two, and maybe even Arise. Darkness will just be okay.

Shit, Master and Everyone or The Letting Go would be a better point of entry.

Nah, I have the one with River Rise on it.

As sung by Oldham.

And massive hard on? If you could define that one. To me, it seems some people "around here" are unitiniated toward him, some like him, some love him, some don't care. He's good lyrics, good voice, good collaborations. I generally find his stuff pretty interesting and he usually plays in styles that I seek out and sings pretty fantastically on every song he's part of.

I like that first record he did with Isobel Campbell quite a bit and I like Sweet Oblivion.

Apparently you've never traversed the Neil Young threads. I have no idea how you could say Lanegan's the sacred cow unless you're reserving the title of "sacredest cow" or something similar for Neil.
