went for a run on Christmas Eve, and got real bad knee pain about 2.5 mile into the run (i have been averaging 4 mile /3-4 x week). Still today it hurts to walk, cant bend it without pain, and the outer knee - the bone on the side of knee is extremely sensitive (very painful) to the touch.
This sucks....any ideas what it could be except my old age?

I was 207 in college, then down to 187 three months later. It has been over two years, and now I'm 200. But I don't feel like I did in college. I feel great. Is it more muscle than fat now? I hope so.

IHRM, if you are indeed 6' and 200 lbs., the future may not be kind to you. You should think about trimming down. Even if it is muscle, that shit will turn to fat after 35 unless you hit the gym daily. AZ winters are killer, try a trail run instead of a weights session at the gym.

Yeah but it's not really bulky muscle. It's more of a broad shouldered, Matt Damon in the Bourne movies kind of muscle. And I run 3 miles on the treadmill every work out. So stick to the running and cut the weight lifting? It's more conditioning than anything.

You should be able to buy one at any sporting goods store.
And, if you are an overpronator, DON'T go out and buy a pair of "motion control" shoes.
Thanks a lot. i was looking around for braces....i assume i need this one that goes above the knee, not the one that goes below. I may try to get to fleet feet in the next day or two. Thanks for the help.

Also, I hit a 7 miler today. So I did 30 miles two weeks in a row. Expected to have a slower week this week with the holidays and the booze and fucking cold and whatnot. Not too shabby. I think I'm way ahead of the game when it comes to my marathon training this sprint/summer.
