Obviously, most of the people on this forum agree that PJ is the best band to come out of the 90's.

The question here: Who is your favorite new band to emerge since the new millenium in 2000?

Might seem kinda' weak, but my vote is for Crossfade. Sure, they may not have much staying power, but seriously...listen to this whole album, not just "Cold." At least for right now, these guys friggin ROCK!

It depends on what you call "new". Many bands have been around a while and are only begining to break into the mainstreem. Muse for example are huge in Europe and are on their 3rd album and some people think of them as a "new" band. My vote goes to...

The Mars Volta. A band that is actually starting to break new ground in popular music.

or...

The Dillinger Escape Plan. A cross between free jazz, hardcore, and metal. These guys really know what they're doing.

I'm sure I'll add more to this list later.

I think we'll see a lot of Mars Volta and Audioslave around here..

My vote is for the Weakerthans. They combine folk, punk, and country with an amazingly poignant sense of lyricism (courtesy John K Samson) to paint a vivid picture in almost every song they play. They have really settled into their sound, and present, along with Bright Eyes and the Mountain Goats, the best lyrics you will find in music today.

Worst band live I've ever seen. They opened for Chevelle and we're soo bad.

Though by no means "new", they've done the majority of their work in the last 5 years so I'll give it to QOTSA by a mile.

Also on the list would definitely be Muse, The Mars Volta, Interpol and the White Stripes.

The only previously mentioned band that deserves any consideration is Dillinger Escape Plan. My vote goes to Strike Anywhere.

Where & when did you see them? I saw them a couple weeks ago in a tiny little club in Seattle...I thought they were awesome. I got their album about a month before that and haven't been able to take it out of my CD player. (maybe you have to know their songs to get into them live)

I like that vote for Velvet Revolver...however, I don't know if I really consider them a "new band" because those guys have been around for a while...same with Audioslave (still both great bands though).

I don't know when the last time I've heard a good new band was.
