I know that when the driver may switch to PIO mode the burner can run slow but this didn't happen to me and it is still running really slow. I have that decrytor stuff to burn dvd's(I am against burning dvds) but a buddy of mine brought it over and I wanted to see if it would really work. It did a couple of dvds fine, in about 30 mins now it is taking close to three hours. I am just wondering if it is a prob with my dvd burner and what to do.

i dont think it is the burner, it is new. i dont know what is going on. the burning process is fine it is the decrypting that is taking forever.

have you tried more than one disc? you may have a disc with smudges or scratches on it, OR the dirt may be on the lens. you may just need to give your DVD burner a good cleaning.

I've been having this same problem recently also. I have a Sony DVD burner that's only 2 months old. Both Cds and DVDs are burning way slow.

Can you clean a dvd burner with a regular lens cleaning cd??
