Whose betting? I'm in for Afleet Alex and Noble Causeway. I would pick Bandini but my buddy has him we'll probably do an exacta with one of mine and his.

as far as longshots go, what do you guys think of Andromeda's Hero?
I read he's the son of Fusiachi Pegasus.........

4.16.05 Arkansas Derby (GII) 3rd Chart Recap Reserved in mid-pack; no match for Afleet Alex
3.26.05 Lanes End (GII) 5th Chart Recap Gained some ground in the stretch
2.26.05 Sam F. Davis 1st Strong stretch run carried him to victory
2.05.05 Allowance race @ Gulfstream 4th Seven furlongs not his game
12.26.04 Maiden allowance race @ Calder 1st Sent off at 2-5; won by seven lengths
10.17.04 Maiden allowance race @ Keeneland 3rd Got off slowly in his career debut
I don't know about him. Not all that bad of a record. I haven't really seen him talked about much though.

go with it if you like him/her (colt or filly?)... the derby is the most unpredictable event in all of sports... you might as well have a 3 year old child pick for you... the chance you'll win is just as likely as asking the world's foremost expert on horse racing prognostication... and with a full field, you might as well try to get good money on your bet

Yes it is so unpredictable. Usually when I go to the Downs here in Erie to bet on a weekend sometimes I just pick the names cause they sound sassy, if you will. I don't look at the stats most of the time. I've gone and bet about three times and so far I've won about $200.

Id go with Noble Causeway too.
I usually put my money behind the D. Wayne Lukas horse, but this years entry is not looking too good.
probably do a trifecta of Bellamy Road-Noble Causway-Afleet Alex and then put $5 each on a couple of 50-1 shots.....just in case
i made a bundle on charismatic a few years back... longshots are great bets in the derby... though he wasnt 50-1... i think he was about half that
yeah, on the trifectas you gotta bet large to win anything, because its usually 3 favs or semi favs.....I like to back it up with the real long shots, 20-30-40-50-- shots....just in case of a fluke.

i used to bet what's called teh wheel... pick 1 and 2 and then take the field to finish in the 3 spot... hope for a longshot to come in there and you can make some serious bank (cause it's an expensive ticket)

200?... nice work... the feeling of seeing your horse head for home and pulling to the lead is almost an unmatched emotion... or how about seeing your horse die when it comes around the final turn... man i miss the track... even the OTBs are fun as hell... ever been to Churchill?... anyone who hasn't i would advise to go at least once in your lifetime... such a great time... and the infield is pretty much a mini-mardi gras (tits and all, not that this would entice a female to participate, but it may drag some guys that way)... when im there i could actually care less about the party going on, it's the races every 45-minutes that gets my blood pumping
I've been to the Preakness and the Belmont.........both of which are very good times.
Preakness gets a little more crazy, but you fry out there in the infield all day. At the Belmont, there's plenty of shaded areas which is nice.
