I think the Phillies need to blow that team up, they've had the same formula for 3-4 seasons and it's not going to work.

nah it's not funny. It's funny when the yankees loose. It's normal when the Phillies lose, though when Larry Bowa was the manager they waited until the end of the year to choke miserably.

You don't know how frustrating is has been following this team. What I am happy for is that everyone is fed up and it is showing. Attendance is way down from last year, everyone on the radio, in the paper, on TV are all bashing the team and the management for all the bad moves they have consistantly made.

They sign a bunch of average or below average players to long term deals (Wolf, Bell, Burrell, Lieberthal). They are terrible with young players, they refuse to trade any veterans or the young prospects. They refuse change the GM even though he has proven that he has no balls to make a significant trade and has made bad deal after bad deal.

I have not gone to a game yet and I refuse to until they blow this team up, at the very least Ed Wade must be fired for me to even consider going back. If another yes man like Ruben Amaro Jr takes his place I will not go back.

Lets see the bad deals that Wade has made that have all blown up in his face.

Trade Schilling for a pile of shit.
Trade Rolen for a pile of shit + Polanco who is a below average player at best.
They refuse to sit or release lieberthal, if he gets 110 AB's this season he is guaranteed 7.5 million next year. They are paying him the same this year. Basically they are guaranteeing him 7.5 million next season.
They had a sham of a Manager search when everyone knew they were going to hire Manual.
They didn't give Jim Leyland the job when he practically begged them for it.
The Fired Bowa and not Wade, after 3 winning seasons in 4 years and one manager of the year award.
They refuse to trade Ryan Howard, the best hirring prospect in baseball, they can't play him unless Thome is hurt.
They knocked Gavin Floyd out of the starting rotation after one bad start, totally ruining his confidence. You cannot do that to a young pitcher, especially when they keep trotting out these veterans who keep getting shelled.
They still haven't addresed CF, a nagging problem for years.
They announce that Chase Utley is the starting 2B for the season, then sit him opening day and platoon him for the first month of the season.
Last year they stick with Roberto Hernandez and this year Tim Worrell, when both get rocked every game they appear.


There are so many other terrible deals I don't feel like writing. I am so frustrated and fed up with this organization, they simply are the worst in sports. Yes, worse than the Clippers. At least the Clippers don't pretend they have a chance to win.

What they really have to do is...

Trade either Thome or Howard for a solid pitcher, you cannot have both of these guys on your team, its just fucking stupid.
Trade David Bell, I don't care if it's for a shitty middle reliever or a triple A utility player. Pay half his salary if you have to. Bite the bullet on this guy.
Stick Polanco at 3B and Utley at 2B EVERY game.
Get a CF or play Jason Michaels every day.
Dump Worrell, Madsen is your setup man, end of story.
Fire Wade and Manual, replace them with people who know what the F they are doing.

They might want to move Marlon Byrd too. He's never going to live up to the hype. Given the choice, I trade Howard though. Thome's the face of the franchise.
