Just noticed something about this song on another thread...thought I'd try to get a definitive answer:
I have an mp3 of "Hold Your Head Up"...when I downloaded it, Napster (or Kazaa or whatever) said it was Pearl Jam. I'm pretty sure it's NOT Eddie singing. To be honest, it kinda sounds like Andrew Wood.
Can someone please confirm with me whether or not it's actually PJ? If they ARE the band playing, then who's singing?
(It's annoying when you download a song and it's not really what they say it is...for example, I downloaded a Nirvana song one time, and it actually turned out to be Coldplay. Anyway, is this maybe what happened with "Hold Your Head Up"...is it actually another band? Does this make sense? Does anyone know what the hell I'm talking about?)
Good ear. It's a Mother Love Bone outtake. It was tacked onto the end of an early PJ boot CD (the one with the 1990 demos), hence all of the confusion.

The bootleggers tried to pass off two other Seattle band songs as Pearl Jam. The first, "Hold Your Head Up", is an Argent song covered by Mother Love Bone. "Mystery" is a demo from Blind Horse, a short-lived band consiting of Bruce Fairweather and Doug Gilmore of Mother Love Bone among others.

Yeah, it soulds like Andy Wood on Hold Your Head Up, and that makes sense.
I agree that the singer on Mistery aka Mystery sounds like Ed, but it also might not be Ed according to this information. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it sounded like Ed.
Edit: I had not listened to the song in several years and I had always assumed it was Ed singing. I just listened to it today and it is obvious now that it is not Ed.

Ha ha..you're totally right. I probably haven't listened to it for years either...and from what I remembered, I always just assumed it was Ed.
That's what happens when you assume...You make an ASS out of U and ME.

i believe Mystery also features shawn smith of brad/satchel/pigeonhead
Why do you believe this?
Do you believe this because you just listened to the song? I just listened to the song and I only heard one vocalist and it was not Shaun Smith. If it features Shaun Smith, it's not featuring his vocals.

I always wondered what the origin of those two songs were. Thanks

I've got a recording of a song called "Mistery" from a bootleg/compilation of rare PJ songs called The 5 Musketeers. I've probably had this CD for The singer doesn't sound like Eddie Vedder, and I don't think it's the guy from Mother Love Bone. Anyone know this song and/or know who is singing on it?

Hey yoosintube, welcome to the board. While you're here in General Discussion, why not go introduce yourself in our Who You Are thread? It's a sticky at the top of the page.
Just before everyone jumps in on you, I'll let you know that there's a specialist forum just for talking about Pearl Jam - PJ Chat. The mods and admins will take of this thread - it'll probably be moved overe to PJ Chat soon.
I've never heard of the song but I'm sure someone will be able to help you out. Again, welcome!

I know what song you are talking about. I read somewhere a long time ago that it actually isn't Pearl Jam at all. For some reason the name Blind Horse is ringing a bell with me. Like that was the name of the band that played it. I think that it involves Bruce Fairweather who used to play with Jeff a long time ago. I am sure somebody here knows the whole story.
