hi, i've been doing a lot of research on how to do this b/c my aunt wants a copy of this old vinyl that she has that she's never been able to find on cd...
the stuff that i've read has said that i need a jukebox program like musicmatch or itunes so that when i plug my record player into my computer i can make a digital copy of it..
i tried with itunes but i can't seem to figure out how i would go about doing that...
i thought maybe cool edit pro (or whatever the adobe product is now) would be the best way to do it... am i right? is there a very easy way to do this, or will it be complicated?
i have already purchased an adapter to go from RCA to headphone, and i'm guessing this will go into the microphone input in the back of my computer.

the only program that i've ever used for this was music match, and it worked great. its not free though. i've used it to transfer audio from cassettes and vhs tapes, but i'm sure it's all the same. the output from the record player will go into the input on your soundcard. music match has an option to record, and it save's it as a wav file.
cdwav works well to split the files when you're done.

i'm gonna try cool edit pro (since i have it) rather than having to buy musicmatch...
i'm assuming it will work since i can plug my guitar into my computer and record with it, so why not a record player...

What you need is a program that I absolutely love at http://www.magix.com. Magix Audio Cleaning Lab. Record player with a "y" cable that goes down to the mic jack. Works great... pm me if you have any other questions.

cool, i will check it out... when you say "y" cable, this is what i bought, im assuming its the right piece
