So the Mariners put up 5 in the first inning yesterday and hit 3 homers in the game......and STILL can't win??!!?? Seems like it's been about four seasons since we scored 9 runs in a game.
What the hell is it going to take??
Dammit, I might just have to become a friggin' Nationals fan or something.

makes me glad im not in the states to watch them. it hurts enough to look at a box score. After all the years of losing and losing bad they have a few good seasons and now back to shit.

The Mariners are playing about as well as you should expect. Moyer is done, Franklin stinks, and Pineiro will never be a #1 or even a #2 starter. They can fight the battle for last place in the West with Oakland.

Franklin doesn't stink...he's just been INCREDIBLY unlucky. I think he's had the WORST run support in the Majors over the past couple years...and during that time he's had a pretty decent ERA. With average run support, Franklin would be racking up W's.

Franklin stinks.
He has 15 walks and 12 K's this year. That's terrible.
Oppononts hit .285 off of him last year. Granted, the Mariners D wasn't that good, but .285 is awful. His ERA was almost 5, that's not "pretty decent", that's terrible.
In 2003 he was OK, but he relies way way too much on defense. He can't get anyone out on his own. He's a classic junkball pitcher who needs great defense, strong offense, and a lot of luck to do anything.
I can't find one compelling statistic to show that Franklin is even "good". He's a bottom of the rotation starter on any team in the league.

Still, it's pretty tough to win if your team can't score behind you.

You can be a good pitcher and lose. Check out Zach Grienke, Mark Redman, Victor Santos, Joe Blanton, Andy Pettite, John Smoltz..all good or even great pitchers that aren't winning.
I wasn't talking about wins and losses, his actual pitching statistics are pretty bad. He's a younger version of John Halama, and I doubt anyone is dying to have him in their rotation
