As someone who despises the Yankees, I can honestly say this...

Tino Martinez is the man.

I was just going to start this thread.

As a Yankee fan, let me say this: when we consider that this man was shown the door after 2001, we can really see how much the current front office sucks.

And the A's are intentionally walking him...

Tino is truly the man.

I hate the Yankees and I hate the fact that you called Tino a "true Yankee"

Nevertheless,

Aside from Alvin Davis, he is my favorite Mariner's first baseman of all time.

Except by Mariners fans, Tino Martinez will be remembered, first and foremost, as a Yankee. Sorry.

Because I really like Tino, and I really hate the Yankees, and I think it's unfortunate that the two are associated with eachother.

I don't know where Tino's streak is at right now....I think he went 5 games in a row w/ a HR, then didn't homer for a game, and then he's streaking again now? How many games in a row does he currently have w/ at least one homer?

Anyway, the record is held by Ken Griffey Jr. at 8 games, and I know that's tied w/ at least one other player but I don't know who.

You might hate the Yankees now, and I can kind of understand that. But the Yankees teams that Tino will most be associated with were great teams composed of extremely likable players and coaches. You could hate A-Rod, Giambi, and Sheffield, but can you really hate players like Paul O'Neill, Scott Brosius, Bernie Williams, Mariano Rivera, and Joe Girardi?

He hit one in five straight games. Zero on friday, then one saturday and two today.

I believe the other player is Don Mattingly

Can you hate them for any reason other than their being Yankees?
