holy shit... i decided to tune in tonight and check out what this was all about... the final fight was one of the greatest fights ive ever seen... it reminded me of the rocky movies where they just pound the hell out of eachother... granted the boxing was sloppy, but if boxing today was 1/2 of what i saw in that match, i would watch religiously... WOW

clubber, since youre the boxing connoisseur here at RM, i'd like your input on this fight and to know if i can catch other fights like this... man was i impressed and entertained

No doubt, what a tremendous fight. I think the build-up of the whole show and the fact that it was only 7 rounds helped to make it such a good one. If it was a 12 rounder i think they would have been a bit more cautious. Manfredo had nothing left at the end, the frantic pace of the rounds and the accumulation of punches probably caused his exhaustion.

As for seeing another fight like this, it's always tough to tell. The most obvious one will be Arturo gatti Vs Maywhether(which i believe is June 18th). The major problem is that it is on PPV. That's one of boxings biggest problems actually. I'll shell out the $50 for it cause i'm a huge fan but mosty people won't. Usually i won't buy a PPV fight no matter who is fighting but this one looks to be a classic.

The fight tonight had 2 guys fighting at 160 which is usually an exciting weight. It's basically the same weight as De La Hoya, Trinidad, Hopkins, Vargas, etc... All those guys can be exciting to watch at times. However, it's the guys at about 130 pounds that usually put on the most entertaining fights. The Corrales fight a couple of weeks ago being the best example(plus the 3 barrera/morales fights which were also classic).

Boxing is a crpshoot, sometimes you get some real duds but if you hang with it long enough you usually catch a classic and it's worth the wait.
