I recently installed the SafePeer plugin for Azureus and since then, Azureus takes forever to load. It's stuck on "Initializing SafePeer" for at least 5 minutes.

After the loading is completed, everything seems to be working as it should. Can anyone help me with this or am I the only with that problem? I haven't found anything on google or the Azureus website.

Thanks

it's addressed in the readme file that came with safepeer.

read that, but basically you change somethign to allow asynchronus startup. the downside is that if you have a torrent ready to go when you start azureus, you're naked (i think) until safepeer starts up.

Thanks, it worked. I feel kind of stupid for not reading the README file.

Is safepeer better than Peerguardian?

If takes that long because it's loading up the blocklist of offender IP's, correct? It's worth the wait if you want to be "safe."

On a slight tangent, does anyone augment SafePeer with Blocklist Manager? Is it worth doing, or could we consider ourselves "safe" if we just stick to the blocklist SafePeer reads from?

safepeer is one of the most absurd ideas i've ever heard. if you think it's going to keep you safe, you're being naive. do you actually think that the RIAA (or whoever is doing it on their behalf) is going to use a "known" IP address to look for people that download/upload copyrighted materials?

How do they become "known?"

I would tend to agree with you but look at it this way. Most downloading comes from shareware programs from kids. Most people don't use Safepeer or whatever. If anyone's looking to bust somebody's ass all they have to do is jump on and collect IP's from work. Sure the RIAA or whatever could use IPs that are unknown or do it from outside their offices etc but that would just be extra hassle when they have tons of people not using safepeer they can get anyway.
