Stop me if this has been done...
Seems like some other big cities have their own threads...why not Seattle?
For those of you who live here, have visited, or wish to visit:
What's your favorite thing about...
Living in Seattle
Visiting Seattle
or...
What would you like to see/do if you ever get a chance to travel here?
(PS - Feel free to ask questions about Seattle here also. I'm sure that anyone on the board familiar with the city/area would be happy to oblige with answers).

People from Seattle seem to be really nice.
There is a good music and art scene up there.
The Sonics. I like the fact that they have many professional sports teams.
Puget Sound and all of the near-by lakes.
There are mountains that aren't too far away.
Seattle is close to Canada and some National Parks.
It's not hot and it rains a lot up there.
You can go whale watching.

After the Mariners beat the Yankees in 1995, I was a little bitter and anything related to Seattle reminded me of the Game 5 loss. Years have passed, and I've been there since and enjoyed it, so now I'm very pro-Seattle. It doesn't hurt that one of my favorite bands is based there.

I have always loved Seattle, except for the rain. I would still be living there if there was more heat and sun. Beautiful scenery, my Huskies and Mariners, close to Bellingham, GO VIKES!!, so much to do.

I love Seattle. It's my favorite place on earth. Probably my favorite thing to do there is sit on the Harbour Steps. That or walk past all the PJ landmarks.

If you can call them that.
Once every few years, one of our teams is worthy of the title "professional."
'95 M's
'96 Sonics
'01 M's
'04-'05 Sonics
Lately, the Seahawks (BEFORE the season actually starts...definitely before the playoffs anyway).
And how 'bout the Storm?!!! j/k that shouldn't count.
Yeah...so that's a pretty pathetic list over the past 10 years...especially since no (men's) teams have actually won anything. Not even a WS appearance!! Argh! I just want to go to ONE World Series game before I die. ONE![/i]

Depends on how long you're here, and what you're into:
Sports Fan? Safeco Field for an M's game.
Music Fan? There are a number of good clubs, my favorite being the Showbox. Try to catch a good band though at the Moore, Crocodile, or any number of other good clubs.
Art enthusiast? We have a big museum downtown, but I hate that crap.
Food? There's a money restaurant in Chintown called "Tai Tung." Probably my fave place in the whole city...but there's also Dixies BBQ in Bellevue...Amazing! Plus all the seafood joints.
Beer? Too many to name, but both Red Hook and Pyramid (to name a couple) have large brewery/restaurants in the area.
Outdoors? Go out on Lake Washington...hopefully you have a friend here with a boat.
So much other cool shit....you can visit Hendrix's grave, visit the actual Sound Garden, visit any of the places where they shot scenes for "Singles"....let me know if you have anymore detailed inquiries.

that's one of my favorite places in Seattle too - I love sitting there with awesome friends from out of town.
I love all the ships - tugboats especially. I love going to marinas and looking at all the cool boats. I love the salt air downtown. I love how Mt. Rainier dominates the sky (especially when you go south towards where I live). I love the food here - "northwest cuisine" is amazing. I love all the heavenly coffee available literally on every street corner.

the traffic sucks bigtime, tho. but o well.
I also love how every salad comes with an avacado. Only in the northwest.
