This movie looks very good. It is another Ron Howard picture and I've always enjoyed his films. Plus, Howard and Crowe worked wonders with A Beautiful Mind so I'm thinking the chances of them doing it again are quite high.
Anyone see it yet? I'm going sometime this weekend.
I like some of Ron Howad's stuff, but A Beautiful Mind was fucking horrible. It exists on the same plane as Lifetime original movies, only with good actors.

I'm interested in seeing it, but will probably wait till it comes out on DVD. Apparently Paul Giamatti steals the show, as with every other movies he's ever been in....ever.

i've already bet someone he'll win best supporting actor for this, even though i don't care to see the movie and we have 7 more months of movies to go. it sucks i forgot morgan freeman won for a boxing movie last year, though.

if you know/like bill simmons (sports guy), he has a review of the movie here
I love Bill's movie reviews. His Rocky ones were fucking classic. He bashes the fight scenes in Cinderella Man a lot. I was gonna go see it last night but i changed my mind after reading his review. I don't go to the movies much, i like to smoke and drink while i watch movies so what's the point. I still might go, i'm pissed i didn't get to see Friday Night Lights in the theatre

I thought the fighting scenes were excellent. You felt as if you were in the action. If I wanted so many wide shots I would find some tape of the fights.

I saw the movie tonight and just read Simmon's review. If his review makes you not want to see the movie, you're missing out. I didn't get lost, and it felt like it put me in the action. I would imagine getting pounded for 15 rounds would make things confusing, wouldn't it?
This is a great flick and a great story, and I really hope Giamatti has another role in a different movie. He was great in this one, but due to how Morgan Freeman won for a boxing movie earlier this year... it's a shame.

Yay, more lifeless uplifting shit from Ron Howard

It was a very good movie but not great. I agree with a lot of the Simmons review, but that shouldn't keep anyone from going to see it. It is the type of movie that will probably get a bunch of oscar noms, but isn't quite good enough to win any. I liked all the acting with the exception of Zellwigger, who is starting to really get on my nerves. Giamatti was passable, but really just seemed to be playing that same character he is so good at. The boxing scenes were great IMO, but they could have been better. It was shot more from the perspective of Crowe's character, so you don't really get a feel for the entire fight, but it works in the context of the movie. Not as good as Rocky, but a little better then Million Dollar Baby. Not really fair comparrisons though, because they are all very different movies.
