doesnt anyone know how to vote logically for all stars?

AL first base: Tina Martinez is winning in voting. by over 100,000 votes. HE IS SECOND TO LAST IN BATTING AVERAGE AMONG AL FIRSTBASEMAN. .237avg with 12 HRs. who should be winning....Teixera from texas. .302avg 16HRs

AL second base: Roberts from Baltimore is up by 50,000 votes...i agree..he should start.

AL shortstop: Tejada from baltimore is up by over 100,000 votes...i agree..he should start

AL third base: Arod is up by over 500,000 votes...i agree..he should start

AL catcher: varitek is up by over 100,000....i agree he should start

AL DH: ortiz is up like 600,000 votes...i agree he should start

AL outfield: Manny ramierez is kicking butt in voting, but he shouldn't make it. he has 11 HR's but only a .249 avg. ichiro is second in voting...eh shouldn't start...maybe make the team but not start. vlad guerro is 3rd...he should start. sheffield and anderson(LAA) should be the other two starters.

Now to the national league

1B: Pujous is up more than 300,000 votes...HOW RETARDED ARE PEOPLE? yes pujous is good...but is not in no way having a better season lee, lee is having the best season in baseball this year so far

2B: kent is up 200,000 votes, not bad..284avg 12HRs...he should def make the team...not start...i have to give the starting role to utley .310 9HRs. utley isn't even in the top 5 in voting.

SS: nomar garciaparra is up 15,000 votes...how fucking retarded are people. .157avg 4 RBIs. has anyone in the country noticed he isn't playing? he shouldn't make the team and barmes should be starting.

3B: rolen is up 200,000 votes....been injured doesn't deserve to play in the game...he is my favorite baseball player in the game today...but he shouldn't be in the game. wright from themets should be starting

C: mike piazza is up 200,000 votes....BULL SHIT. shouldn't make the team...254 avg 6HRs. barratt should be starting.

OF: beltran, edmonds, abreu...i agre with abreu...beltran should not make the team, and edmonds should not start...starters should be lofton (.398 avg), abreu (.321 15HRs), and either burrell(.320 12HRs 51 RBIs) or cabrera (.338 10HRs)

the american league is not that bad...but the national league is all fucked up....baseball fans need to put some thought into this voting....i want to watch a good all star game...not a game where we have "named Players" from the past. like ken griffey jr...he is 4th in voting for outfield...pathetic.

People just vote for players they like... that's the problem with fan voting. That's the reason that a lot of players who were good last year, like Beltran, or even players who were good 5 or 6 years ago, like Griffey, will get a lot of votes. People don't bother seeing who's actually doing well.

dude, this has been the argument for years. theres nothing we can do to change it. face it, most of the people who vote, just vote for the big names. they probably don't even know who brian roberts or derreck lee are. not to mention david wright. its sad, but thats the way it is.

the only solice I can say is that most of the stars play for the 1st 3 innings or so and those are usually the most boring anyway. its guys like we mentioned that make it good.

that's why it's called the all star game, i don't agree with it, but casual fans vote on who they want to see, not who is having the best season.

Isn't Barmes on the DL?

Anyway, fans vote for all different reasons. Some vote for best season, some vote all home team, some vote favorites. I'm considering voting Griffey because he's having a nice year and I like him a lot.

It's not like Lee, Teixera, Kent, Cabrera etc won't make the team.

Yup. He fell down a flight a stairs while carrying groceries.

Actually, it was deer meat. Don't know why he didn't tell the truth in the first place.

Remember, votes from the ballparks aren't all counted at the same time. That is why, at times, several players from the same team will have large vote leads. I'm sure the teams will "correct" themselves. Very rarely do undeserving, non-DL players make the team.

Ask Jeff Kent why Barmes lied.

As far as DL players, they don't take a roster spot and the more deserving players get in instead.

The only one that really sticks in my craw is Garciaparra. There is absolutely no reason that he should be anywhere near the All-Star game. It's like a bunch of freakin' idiots saw his name and it was the only one they recognized.

Vastly different situations.

Falling down the stairs while carrying a bag of groceries as opposed to a bag of deer meat makes absolutely no difference.

Wiping out on your motorcycle as opposed to falling while washing your truck is a huge difference and likely would have allowed the Giants to void the contract or force him to forfeit a portion of the contracts value (likely equal to the portion that he would have made in the games he missed due to the mishap).

Then there's all the people overseas stuffing ballot boxes for Yao Ming and Ichiro....yeah, like that's fair.

But what are you gonna do?

this thread, well, it's nice sentiment, but christ, garret anderson and kenny lofton?

anderson is having pretty much the same season manny ramirez is, with more singles and less walks and less power, and kenny lofton barely has 100 at bats. how can i guy play in 34 games for his team yet start in the all star game without being hurt? that's right, kenny lofton has less at bats than scott rolen, who you say shouldn't start because, well, he hasn't played enough.

Games played is a stat that is ignored too often - Rafael Palmeiro -1999 Gold Glove for first basemen - games played at first base: 28.

:?

gold gloves are a joke. i thought palmeiro's number was even lower than that, actually.
